For those of you that come here often will already know, we did our first Ebb & Flow Yoga Retreat and the divine Komune Wellness Resort at Keramus Beach, Bali in June 2017. If Bali is the island of the gods, then this is their rejuvenation space. Such a beautiful place and life affirming experience for all who attended – so much so that we already have next year’s planned!

One of the highlights was the incredible, fresh, delicious and healthy food served up to us by their award-winning kitchens every day (voted top 5 in Asia).

So… here’s just one of the earthly delights that we have been concocting since we got home – inspired by Komune. (yep…we are all still dreaming of that menu!)

This juice blend is the ultimate way to start the day – refreshing, rejuvenating and with so many health benefits! So, get out your blender and get your juice on!

Start with half a cucumber cut into chunks and throw it into the blender…

Cucumber is an amazing addition to your diet, containing multiple B vitamins (B1, B5 & B7- Biotin). B vitamins are known to help ease feelings of anxiety and buffer some of the damaging effects of stress. Cucumbers are also rich in two of the most basic elements of digestion – water and fibre.

Add two handfuls of spinach

Spinach has an extremely high nutritional value and is rich in antioxidants. It’s a good source of vitamin A, B2, C and K, and also contains magnesium, manganese, folate, iron, calcium and potassium. Spinach has been found to boost eye health and has strong anti-aging properties.

Now add a small handful of mint

Mint is a calming and soothing herb that has been used for thousands of years to aid with upset stomach and indigestion. Mint is thought to increase bile secretion and encourage bile flow, which helps to speed and ease digestion.

Throw in a teaspoon (or more to taste) of Turmeric

Turmeric contains bioactive compounds such as curcumin – a natural anti-inflammatory compound. Turmeric dramatically increases the antioxidant capacity of your body.

Lastly, add 250ml of filtered water…..and blend away.

Seriously – we love it! Great in summer if you add some ice cubes before blending too. Stay tuned for some more Komune inspired food envy.
